Our Mission
OmPanchang was founded with a single mission: to make the profound wisdom of the Vedic panchang accessible to every seeker, regardless of their location, language, or level of scriptural knowledge. The panchang — literally "five limbs" — is the Hindu calendar that tracks Tithi (lunar day), Vaara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar angle), and Karana (half-tithi). For millennia, this knowledge was passed down through oral tradition and learned commentaries; today, we bring it to your screen with the accuracy of a Vedic scholar and the polish of modern web design.
What We Offer
Our portal is built on three pillars: accuracy, depth, and accessibility. Every panchang calculation on OmPanchang is fetched live from a Vedic ephemeris backend — the same backend that powers our Android application trusted by millions of users across India and the diaspora. We do not rely on static tables or approximation; timings are calculated precisely for your chosen city using established astronomical algorithms.
Beyond the daily panchang, we offer comprehensive guides to 27 nakshatras, 30 tithis, 27 yogas, 11 karanas, an expanding temple directory covering Jyotirlingas, Divya Desams, Shakti Peethas, and other sacred sites, a curated mantra & stotra library, and a detailed festival calendar with stories, rituals, mantras, and traditional recipes.
Our Sources
We draw from the classical sources of Sanatana Dharma — the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Dharma Shastras, and the Jyotisha texts of sages like Parashara, Varahamihira, and Bhrigu. Our panchang calculations follow the Amanta lunar month system (common in South India) with cross-references to the Purnimanta system (common in North India) where relevant. Festival dates follow the standard Panchang-recognized calendar used by major mathas and temple trusts across India.

We are not affiliated with any single sampradaya (tradition) — we honor the diversity of practice across Shaiva, Vaishnava, Shakta, Smartha, and other lineages, and we strive to present content in a way that respects all genuine paths.
